About

Plain Faraday is an independent music project from Denver, Colorado. The collective includes guitarist/vocalist Caleb Sanders, trombonist/vocalist Matteo Bassani, bassist Ed Ness, and drummer John Sevy.

Plain Faraday’s unique indie sound pulls from a variety of genres.  Influences of indie-rock, Americana, jazz, Neo-soul, pop, and folk abound. The group’s quest for meaningful lyrics and dynamic compositions are guided by a respect for wood and steel, times past and present.

In their time together, the band has released several singles and two EPs. Their first self-titled work (a 7-track EP) was released in September of 2020. While this release was a testament to their indie-folk roots, it subtly hinted at their exploration into new musical spaces. Their second EP, Pink Blazer, was released in the summer of 2022 and fuses catchy indie-pop hooks with subtle elements of jazz and alternative funk. The band is currently working on their first full length record, a compilation of all the influences that have been mounting over the years, and has been releasing singles along the way. Songs weave from Tom Misch-like grooves into pure singer-songwriter folk.

Over the years, Plain Faraday has shared stages with prominent artists like Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners, Moon Taxi, The Collection, Susto, Parker Millsap, The National Parks, Run River North, The Arcadian Wild and others. They’ve also toured with Trash Panda, Winston Surfshirt, Dustbowl Revival, Happy Landing, Emily Brimlow, and Grady Spencer & The Work.

When not playing music, the Faraday crew can be found roaming (or skating) the streets of Denver, sipping local brew, throwing down in a game of chess, kicking the hacky sack with friends in the park, basking riverside in the warm Colorado sun, and exploring the inspiring Rocky Mountains.
